Would you like to improve the odds of being reunited with your pet if it ever becomes lost? A Life to Live is here to help.
The local nonprofit organization with a no-kill mission will provide up to 200 free microchips for owned pets Sunday, Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at PetSmart, 6345 Garth Road in Baytown.
Also at the event, 2,000 pounds of food will be available to distribute to pet owners affected by Hurricane Harvey. And if you would like to meet some of A Life to Live's adoptable animals, a variety of cats and dogs will be on hand.
A microchip is a permanent ID for your pet. When it's registered and kept up to date with accurate contact information, it can save your pet's life.
Microchips will be administered and registered at this event on a first-come, first-serve basis. Arrive by 10 a.m. to receive a number at the door. That will be your voucher for a free microchip.
Cats and dogs are welcomed. Dogs must be on a leash or in a carrier. Cats must be in a carrier.
The microchips are being offered free thanks to support from Found Animals and Chevron Phillips Chemical.
