Stirctly Business: Scouts hold donation drive for fire victims - Daily Democrat

Local Girl Scout Troop No. 621 has partnered with Woodland’s Pet Supplies Plus to initiate a donation drive to help those affected by the recent Napa and Sonoma County fires.

Now through Friday, Nov. 3, the girls will collect packages of new kid’s socks (all sizes), new kid’s underwear (all sizes) books (new or gently used), pet food and pet toys. Pet Supplies Plus, located in the Gateway Shopping Center at 2091 Bronze Star Drive, will match all in-store purchases of selected pet foods. The retailer will also serve as a collection location for any items contributed as part of this donation drive.

The girls will partner with Girl Scouts of Northern California (Napa and Sonoma) to distribute donated items at the end of the drive.

The Troop is working with their principal, Dr. Felicia Wilson, to run the donation drive at Zamora Elementary school, too.

They spoke to almost every class at Zamora Elementary to promote their donation drive by helping the other kids understand the reason they are collecting kids socks and underwear is that the children who are victims of the Napa/Sonoma fires will want to feel comfortable and fresh. They are collecting books because the kids will want to read. And they are collecting pet foods (in partnership with Pet Supplies Plus) because pets are homeless, too.

If members of the Woodland community would like to contribute, they can drop items (even socks/underwear/books) at Pet Supplies Plus or they can email the troop at gshcctroop621@gmail.com.
