Hillside Animal Hospital conducted its 8th Annual Pet Food Drive for WAFER Food Pantry.
Hillside delivered 4,800 pounds of dog and cat food Thursday morning for pet owners served by WAFER. The food was collected over the course of two months by staff, clients, and food suppliers for Hillside Animal Hospital.
Doctor Robert Spencer says its a chance for them to help out those in need who care so much for their pets.
"Pet food has gotten increasingly expensive and if they're having a hard time taking care of themselves, we actually know that there are people who feed their pets rather than feed themselves and we don't want that to have to happen so if we can help out, it's certainly been our pleasure to do that," says Dr. Spencer.
He also says he'll donate a dollar for every pound donated after 1,500 pounds up to $1,000.
