Pet owners will be wagging their tails when another new business that recently opened in the Shops at Atlas Park in Glendale holds its grand opening this weekend.
National pet store chain Pet Supplies Plus will be offering all-day sweepstakes, sales and free dog washes on Jan. 6 and 7 to celebrate its arrival in the neighborhood.
The new location, which had a soft opening on Dec. 20, offers a wide variety of pet food, toys and equipment, as well as fish, reptiles, birds and other small pets. The 5,775-square-foot facility will also feature VIP vet care, a self-service dog wash and a carry-out service to help guests carry heavy purchases.
Opening its doors during the week leading up to Christmas proved very valuable, according to store manager Mike Vidrak. Since so many people treat their pets like family, Vidrak said, the pet toys were almost completely “taken off the shelves” as people bought gifts for their furry friends. He added that virtually all of the Pet Supplies Plus staff members are pet lovers from the local community.
“Retail is a unique kind of business, but when you add pets it brings out the best in people,” Vidrak said. “On one hand you’re selling animals, but you’re also caring for those animals in the store.”
From 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Jan. 6, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Jan. 7, guests who come to the store will be given scratch cards valued from $5 to $50 and can enter for a chance to win a one-year supply of Purina dog or cat food. On Saturday, Jan. 6, only, the first 100 guests in the store will also receive a coupon for a free small bag of dog or cat food.
Founded in 1988, Pet Supplies Plus takes pride in its neighborhood-style approach and has expanded to 400 locations in 32 states. Vidrak added that he’s excited to see how many people come to enjoy the Glendale store’s special offers.
