A pet supplies store in town has moved across the street.

Chow Hound Pet Supplies moved out of its Breton Village space and re-opened at the new shopping center nearby at 2490 Burton St. SE, next to Fresh Thyme Market.

“It just made better sense to be close to Fresh Thyme,” said Greg Keane, president and co-founder, Chow Hound. “We were in the back of the old shopping center. Now this puts us out front in a much more visible location.”

Chow Hound entered a lease with the property owner, Grand Rapids-based CWD Real Estate Investment, which also owns Breton Village, for the 8,400-square-foot space.

Keane said there was no leasing or selling agent in the deal, as Chow Hound has had a long relationship with CWD.

Grand Rapids based McGraw Construction built the new shopping center, along with Grand Rapids-based Integrated Architecture.

“We’ve been thrilled with the move,” Keane said. “We think that upside potential is there. We’ve been happy with customer comments and the space we have over there.”

Chow Hound will have a grand re-opening sale on Jan. 20-21, which will feature store-wide discounts, free samples, coupons, pet-care answers and prizes, such as free pet food and free self-serve dog washes.
