Petcurean, a manufacturer of high-quality, premium pet food has donated 3,000 pounds of pet food to Care Animal Hospital, Tails of Rescue and ResQ Animal Coalition to support the hundreds of dogs and cats affected by the Carr Fire, which has destroyed more than 229,000 acres and more than 1,600 structures in northern California since igniting on July 23.
According to Shasta County Sherriff Tom Besenko, around 38,000 people were placed under evacuation orders the week the fire broke out. Unfortunately, in the haste to get to safety, many pets were left behind. Knowing that food is scarce and pets are in need, Petcurean is donating food with help from one of its California distributors.
“Although the fire in the city of Redding and surrounding areas is absolutely devastating, we want worried pet owners to gain some peace of mind knowing that their beloved pets are being cared for during this scary and stressful time,” said Christine Mallier, PR & Community Relations manager at Petcurean. “Our hope is that this small act of giving also provides comfort to the displaced pets and helps lighten the load for the incredible shelters that are acting as a safe haven, until these pets are reunited with their families.”
Petcurean says it is committed to helping pets and pet owners that are impacted by natural disasters and supporting the animal rescue programs that work tirelessly to support animals in need. In 2018, Petcurean made 163 donations, for a total donation of nearly 32,000 pounds of food to-date.
