DARTMOUTH — You still have time to donate pet food and water for Hurricane Florence's furry victims.

From 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Odie's Place Animal Rescue will be at Walmart, 506 State Road, with a U-Haul truck. Since Friday, the nonprofit organization has collected about 5,000 pounds of goods to send South, said Brian Harrington, president of Odie's Place.

"It's pretty awesome," Harrington said Monday of the generosity and care SouthCoast residents have shown.

The group is collecting dog food, cat food and bottled water. Pet toys will be accepted, too. "We're trying to help lift morale, too."

The organization is working with a couple of facilities in North Carolina on getting the supplies distributed. The truck will head South by the end of the week.

Last year, Odie's Place Animal Rescue collected pets goods for hurricane victims in Texas and Florida, sending at least three trucks filled with supplies.
