FORT COLLINS — The Colorado State Patrol Women's Resource Network will collect nonperishable food donations for the Food Bank of Larimer County and donations of pet food and supplies for the Denver Animal Shelter on Monday.

The collection will take place at 2-5 p.m. Monday at the Cambria Suites Hotel lobby, 2921 E. Harmony Road, Fort Collins.

The collection is being taken in honor of Trooper Jaimie Jursevics, who was killed last November while trying to flag down a suspected drunken driver.

She had a deep love of all animals, according to a press release.

Suggested food items for donation include peanut butter, whole grain pasta, brown rice, canned tuna or chicken in water, canned fruits in juice, low-sodium canned soup, beans and lentils, nuts, seeds and dried fruits. Donors are asked not to bring items in glass containers.

Suggested pet donations include cat and dog enrichment toys that are easy to disinfect, dog or cat treats, peanut butter, blankets, towels, collars and leashes, newspaper, kitten or puppy milk replacement powders, puppy pads and clumping kitty litter.
