Donations will be accepted at Tiara Rado Animal Hospital  in Grand Junction between Oct. 14 and Nov. 15 for an annual pet food drive to benefit the Community Food Bank.

“We host this pet food drive to ensure that pets in need in our community have food going into the winter months,” said Bob Marquis, a veterinarian who owns Tiara Rado Animal Hospital.

Pet food, cash or checks made payable to the Community Food Bank will be collected between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. weekdays at the hospital, 2245 3/4 Broadway.

Last year, Tiara Rado Animal Hospital doubled the food collected during the drive, bringing to 2,000 pounds of food and $1,000 contributed to the Community Food Bank. That was enough to feed pets for a year, said Darcy Johnson, director of the food bank.

Pet food is one of the top requests at local food banks. The food bank provides a three-day supply of emergency food to people. Volunteers bag pet food into three-day supplies.

Tiara Rado Animal Hospital provides a range of veterinary care, including exams and diagnostic services, advanced surgical procedures and physical therapy. For more information, call 243-4007 or visit http://ift.tt/2drt94y.
