Coastal center accepting dog, cat food, pet toys - Kennebec Journal & Morning Sentinel

DAMARISCOTTA — Spectrum Generations Coastal Community Center is accepting donations of dog and cat food and pet toys to ensure that homebound pet parents can enjoy a happy and plentiful Thanksgiving with their pets.

The pet food drive is designed to provide a something extra for the pets that enhance the lives of Lincoln County’s Meals on Wheels program participants.

Donated items will be distributed to MOW Animeal program participants on Wednesday, Nov. 23.

The purpose of the program is to help homebound individuals keep and provide for their pets without the cost of giving up their own food or necessities.

With the help of committed volunteers and staff members, Coastal’s Animeals Program serves more than 40 pets and their owners in Lincoln County. It is with the charitable acts of community members, local businesses and these programs that Thanksgiving promises to be a bountiful time for everyone.

Monetary donations for the on-going purchase of bulk dog and cat food at Ames Supply in Wiscasset by members of the Center team are welcome. The pet food is repackaged by Mobius volunteers and delivered to Coastal’s Animeal recipients on a weekly basis by volunteer Meals on Wheels drivers are appreciated at any time throughout the year.

Checks should be made out to Spectrum Generations with a notation for LC’s Animeal Program and mailed to 521 Main St., Damariscotta, ME 04543.
