Food City stores kick off annual pet food drive - WJHL

JONESBOROUGH, TN (WJHL) – Foods City stores across the region kicked off their annual Pet Hunger Drive on Monday.

They are inviting customers to purchase pre-packaged pet food bags for $10.  Once purchased, the bags can be placed in the special collection bins located inside the store. Customers can also buy food and treats individually.

“We are giving customers the chance to come in our stores buy these bags which are premade here at the store ten dollars with the product inside the bag. And we take all those bags and donate them to local food shelters throughout the area”, said Kevin Stafford who is Vice President of Marketing for K-VA-T Food Stores.

Last year the drive yielded about 8,000 pounds of food which is about 90,000 dollars’ worth of food.

This year they have a goal of 10,000 pounds of food and believe that there is a very good chance of reaching that number.

“We have a great goal for this year. We hope to be over 10,000 pounds of food that will go out or animal shelters which is about $115,000 worth of product. We are really looking to partnering with our customers to raise that money for animals throughout the area”, said Stafford

The drive will end on January the sixth.

If you would like to make a donation to help out the food drive you can visit your local Food City.
