On this morning's Pet Paws KATC's Tracy Wirtz met Lannister, a 2-year old spaniel mix currently available for adoption at the Lafayette Animal Shelter and Care Center.
Today's topic is all about what to feed, how much to feed, and how often owners should feed their pets. Pets, like children, according to LASCC, should be fed at least three short meals throughout the day. As a reminder, it is always recommended that owners to check with their veterinarians to see the appropriate amount of food your dog should be receiving. Veterinarians will also be able to let pet owners know the type of food your pet should be ingesting. Dry food could have an effect on a pet's teeth and intestines so it may be a better option for some pets to eat soft or wet food.
It's always a good idea to feed your pet a well balanced diet and to avoid human foods to keep your pet at a healthy weight.
Along with Lannister, several other dogs and pets are available for adoption. Those interested in seeing all the pets available for adoption can visit the Lafayette Animal Shelter and Care Center online or on their Facebook page.
