Michigan-based Pet Supplies Plus aims to help connect veterans with service dogs - WDIV Detroit

LIVONIA, Mich. - Pet Supplies Plus has launched an initiative this month to help connect veterans with service dogs.

For every like and share of this Facebook post, Pet Supplies Plus will donate $1, up to $5,000, to Patriot PAWS Service Dogs. PAWS provides service dogs at no cost to disabled veterans and those with mobile disabilities and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Additionally, purchases of Natural Balance products at Pet Supplies Plus until Nov. 26 will go toward a $50,000 donation to PAWS.

"We are humbled and proud to partner with Natural Balance and Patriot PAWS and give back to the brave men and women who serve our country," said Chris Rowland, CEO of Pet Supplies Plus. "There are so many veterans who are in need of assistance as they work to fill their lives with happiness after being relieved from their duties."

Also, the company is asking for photos and videos of pets interacting with military personnel to be posted to social media with the hashtag #PetPlusVets through Saturday, Veterans Day.
