Pet food drive ending soon - The Charlottesville Newsplex

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A local pet store is collecting food to help two local nonprofits care for animals.

Natural Pet Essentials says it is about 1,000 pounds of pet food short of its goal for this year's Holiday Pet Food Drive. According to the store's owner, the goal is to collect 4,000 pounds of food.

Donations can be purchased at the store or dropped off there.

The food will be given to Caring for Creatures and Ring Dog Rescue, both of which are nonprofits in this area that tend to rescued animals.

The drive runs through Sunday.

In past years, the drive has collected as much as 6,000 pounds of food.
