ROCKFORD — When Jennifer Brown’s dog developed stomach sensitivity, she started researching solutions.
She landed on Pet Wants, a 7-year-old company that makes slow-cooked pet food without sugar, fillers and animal byproducts. It doesn't use corn, wheat, soy or dyes, a practice that is supposed to benefit allergic animals.
The company also sells salves, balms, anti-itch sprays, paw waxes and other products.
“It’s a great product,” Brown, 42, said. “We decided to bring it to the Rockford area. We have received some positive feedback.”
Brown’s franchise is a mobile business offering free personal delivery to Rockford and surrounding communities.
She is looking to get more involved in the community through Pet Wants’ philanthropic programs, like a buy-one, give-one food matching program for local shelters and rescues.
