Dog treats turn out to be pet food pioneer's best friend - The Times

Liam Queally turned a real dog’s dinner into a profitable multimillion-euro global business.

Kildare-based Irish Dog Foods has a turnover of €60m, employs more than 200 people and was recently crowned medium-sized exporter of the year at the Export Industry Awards 2017. Not bad for a man who lasted just one day at the College of Commerce in Rathmines.

“I’m not the most academic but I’m the eldest of eight. Every one in our family is entrepreneurial in some way,” said Queally, 50.

No doubt he watched his father Peter start out in farming, move into quarrying and then cold storage, before co-founding Dawn Meats, no exporting slouch itself.
