Steve's Real Food is issuing a recall of one type of dog food due to a possible salmonella contamination.
The pet food company says it's 5 lb. Raw Frozen Dog Food Turkey Canine Recipe has the potential to be contaminated with salmonella, posing a health risk to animals who eat the product as well as humans who handle the food.
The dog food was distributed to retail pet food stores nationwide including Colorado, Utah, Nebraska and Kansas.
The product was sold frozen in 5 lb. bags. The recall affects bags from Lot E-178 with the UPC Code 6-91730-15303-8 and the Best-By Date 09/27/18.

The recall was initiated when a retail sample was collected and tested positive for salmonella by the Nebraska Department of Agriculture. No pets or human illnesses have been reported to date.

Customers with the food should not use it and return it to the retailer for a full refund.
