Dog biscuit oven catches fire at pet food plant - Joplin Globe

Bad news, Bowser. Somebody burned the dog biscuits.

Joplin fire crews doused a blaze early Tuesday in an oven used to make dog biscuits at a pet food manufacturing plant. The call came in at 1:57 a.m. reporting a fire at Hampshire Pet Foods, 7502 E. 26th St.

Joplin's emergency management director Keith Stammer reported that the first fire crew on the scene determined the fire was in an oven, extinguished it and remained on the scene until 3:33 a.m. to make sure there was no other incident or a flareup.

No injuries were reported.

The Joplin Fire Department responded with 7 units and 18 personnel and was assisted by the Joplin Police Department and METS Ambulance Service, Stammer said.
