The FDA is urging consumers to stop feeding the recalled products to their pets. When consumed at very high levels, vitamin D can lead to serious health issues in dogs, including renal dysfunction.

Dogs that ingest elevated levels of vitamin D may exhibit vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and weight loss. Consumers whose dogs have consumed any of the recalled products and are exhibiting any of these signs should contact their veterinarian.

Consumers who have purchased any of the Sunshine Mills products affected by the company’s recall should dispose of or return them to the retailer for a full refund. Consumers may contact Sunshine Mills, Inc. customer service at 800-705-2111 from 7AM to 4PM Central Time, Monday through Friday, or by email at customer.service@sunshinemills.com for additional information.
