There’s such a thing as too much Vitamin D, especially when it comes to dogs. That’s why Nutrisca has recalled Nutrisca Chicken and Chickpea Dry Dog Food and Natural Life Chicken & Potato Dry Dog Food.
“Nutrisca became aware of the elevated levels of vitamin D after receiving complaints from three pet owners of vitamin D toxicity after consuming the product,” said the company-written, FDA-posted recall notice. “An investigation revealed a formulation error led to the elevated vitamin D in the product.”
Too much Vitamin D in doggies can lead to throwing up, more peeing, extra drooling and decreased appetite. Renal problems can be among the consequences of too much Vitamin D.
The Chicken and Chickpea dog food is sold in retail stores nationwide in bags of 4 pounds, 15 pounds or 28 pounds with a Best By date of Feb. 25, 2020 through Sept. 13, 2020. The recalled Natural Life brand dog food, sold in 17.5-pound bags, has a Best By date of May 29, 2020 through Aug. 10, 2020 and was sold in Florida, California, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Virginia.
