An "Earth Angels" community pet food drive kicks off this week to support individuals who are using their own time, space, and resources to rescue homeless and abandoned animals. Gandhi Global Center For Peace in partnership with local Dollar General (2010 McCallie Ave.) are inviting the community to bring donations of dog and cat food or buy them at the store to drop in the collection box inside store centrally located in the Highland Park neighborhood near downtown Chattanooga.
Gandhi Global Center For Peace Co-Founder Missy Crutchfield said, "In the subfreezing weather we are experiencing during this time of the year, it is important we support people who are rescuing our city's homeless and abandoned animals. We are honored to help organize community support for these 'Earth Angels' as they open their homes and care for 'All God's Creatures'. And we hope to see other local Dollar General stores join in this campaign."
Individuals who are actively rescuing homeless, abandoned animals are encouraged to leave their name with one of the Managers at the Dollar General store in Highland Park to receive assistance. This begins an ongoing "Earth Angels" campaign.
