Pet food firm closes on $7.35M Hauppauge building - Long Island Business News

Health Extension Pet Care has closed on its $7.35 million purchase of a Hauppauge industrial property.

The 55,000-square-foot building on 3 acres at 50 Commerce Drive was formerly owned by Edgar Fabrics, which is downsizing and relocating to about 12,000 square feet of leased space at 125 Wilbur Place in Bohemia.

Health Extension, which was assisted in its Hauppauge acquisition and planned renovations with economic incentives from the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency, is expanding and relocating from about 18,000 square feet at 90 Marcus Blvd. in Deer Park. Founded in 1963, family-owned Health Extension is a maker of dry and canned food for dogs and cats.

Gary Chimeri of Alliance Real Estate represented the buyer, while Howard Nemshin of Atlantic Properties represented seller Edgar Fabrics in the sales transaction.
