Evanger's $545500 Pet Food Class Settlement Gets Initial Nod - Bloomberg Law

Evanger’s Dog & Cat Food Co. and pet owners got the initial nod for a $545,500 class settlement in a suit alleging it falsely touted the quality of meat in its products.

Plaintiffs challenged statements such as “people food for pets” and “human grade,” and alleged several pets were sickened by pentobarbital in recalled products.

The deal heads for a hearing next May in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington.

The company recalled Hunks of Beef and other beef-based pet foods because of potential contamination with pentobarbital, a barbiturate.
