ST. JOSEPH COUNTY —
A local animal shelter needs your help right now.
Volunteers are rushing to make sure all the animals at the Humane Society of St. Joseph County have something to eat.
They're completely out of canned cat food and running dangerously low on canned dog food.
Here's why--right now the humane society of St. Joe County has a huge influx of cats, kittens, and dogs.
That means more mouths to feed.
What they need right now is the canned dog food-- with canned food, it's easier to give animals medicine they need before they get adopted..
They'll make a meatball out of the canned food and hide the medicine in it.
A lot of times animals come in very thin and need extra canned food to gain weight.
Some of the kittens don't know how to eat the hard food yet.
"It's about every year at this time, I see a lot of cats and a lot more dogs. Kids are going back to school, people are busy, dogs are getting loose, cats have been out all summer long and they've been breeding all summer long, so that's why we have an influx of animals this time of year,” said Genny Carlson, Director at the Humane Society of St. Joe County
So what can you do--donate.
