Meals on Wheels announces new pet food donation site; donations low for program - KIMA CBS 29

YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- Meals on Wheels is looking for your help on pet food donations for the pets the senior citizens in their program have.

Bleyhl Farm Service is a new partner for Meals on Wheels taking in donations around the valley.

Program leaders say they hand out food to over 60 dogs and cats but are light on pet donations this year.

They say having enough food for seniors and their pets ensure both stay healthy.

"A lot of times the only person they see for weeks is the driver goes and delivers the food to them and then their pets and a lot of them they call them their babies, they're their family," said Meals on Wheels program manager Lorena Fernandez.

Meals on Wheels is accepting pet food donations at the following locations:

-Bleyhl Farm Service stores in Grandview, Sunnyside and Zillah

-Senior centers in Grandvew, Sunnyside and Union Gap

-Yakima Harman Senior Center (101 N 65th Ave, Yakima, WA 98908)

-Henry Beauchamp Community Center (1211 S 7th St, Yakima, WA 98901)

-Selah Civic Center

-Meals on Wheels main office (1008 W. Ahtanum Rd, Union Gap, WA 98903)
