GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT)-- Tiara Rado Animal Hospital collected thousands of pounds of pet food for Mesa County's pets in need.
Earlier this month, the animal hospital hosted their sixth annual pet food drive. Two tons of pet food was donated and they also received more than $600 in monetary donations.
"This year, we reached out a little further into the community. We reached out to some bigger dog food companies like Purina, who actually donated over 1,800 pounds to us," said Ashley Spears, Tiara Rado Animal Hospital.
The pet food will go to the Community Food Bank of Grand Junction to help families in need.
Last year, Tiara Rado collected just under 3,000 pounds of food and about a $1,000.
