Pet shop on wheels comes to Springfield - KSPR

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3/KSPR) - Tail-Waggers Pet Truck is a new pet supply delivery service kicking things off in Springfield.

The massive orange truck looks a lot like a typical food truck, but instead of food for humans, there's pet supplies inside. One of the partners who came up with the idea said all the delivery services for pet supplies sound great, but are lacking that personal approach. "Why not start a business where we do drop off that box at a doorstep, but we also give that personal attention to the dog," said Michael Ormsby. Ormsby said when customers get their deliveries, their pet will also get a treat and a little bit of play time. "We learn that dogs name and really get involved in the community and their pets, people love their pets and we want to love their pets also."

Ormsby is not only a Springfield dog owner, but started getting involved in the dog treat industry about six-months ago when he became a managing partner for Ruff Life Dog Treats. His path crossed with another dog treat company CEO, Chase Peterson, who is in charge of Wholesome Pride Pet Treats. Together they came up with the idea for Tail-Waggers.

Chase Peterson said he will actually start out behind the wheel until they build up enough to hire other drivers. He explained some of the services the pet truck offers. "Essentially we are an actual retail shop, just without the location... We deliver it right to your house, dog food treats, health and wellness, flea and tick removal, cat food, cat litter, stuff like that." All a customer has to do is fill up their shopping cart online and the next day those products are at their front door.

Peterson also said the new company will donate some of the profits to other pet charities in the Ozarks, like Rescue One and the Humane Society.

Ormsby and Peterson both said Tail-Waggers carries all major brands when it comes to the everyday pet needs. They also said there is no delivery charge, making them comparable to any major pet supply chain.
