Whether you're the proud pet parent of a dog or a turtle, the Lowcountry Paws and Claws Pet Expo is perfect way to spend a Saturday with your critter.
Returning for the ninth year, the petpalooza hosted by The Post and Courier and Lowcountry Paws welcomes animals of all furs and feathers from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in Exhibit Hall C at the Charleston Area Convention Center, 5001 Coliseum Drive in North Charleston. Parking is free and admission is just $3 for grownups, free for kids ages 12 and younger and pets. The expo features dozens of pet care providers, vendors and animal rescue groups all in one space. Between meeting sweet shelter dogs and picking up samples from local businesses, you can check out a full lineup of entertainment on the main stage, including a chances to win prizes via cool contest. Get your pet ready to compete in one of the following stage contest:
- Moonshadow Pet Resort will reward the best tricks at 11 a.m. with the first contest of the day. The pet with the best tricks will receive a heaping gift basket from this grooming and boarding business.
- Show off your pet's Halloween get-up with the Pet Supplies Plus's Halloween Pet Costume Contest at noon. The first-place winner will take home a $100 gift card to the shop, second- and third-place winners will also receive prizes!
- Whether you share curly hair or like to dress alike, showcase your resemblance with your pet in Pet Helpers' Pet Look-Alike contest. The winner gets the ultimate date night with two tickets to the nonprofit's swanky Fur Ball (a $300 value).
The show will close out with a flurry of fashionsin the Charleston Animal Society's pet fashion show at 2:30 p.m.
