Tractor Supply Co. to relocate to 'prominent' Ring Road location - Elizabethtown News Enterprise

The robust development along a stretch of Ring Road between Buford Lane and Woodland Drive in Elizabethtown will gain another resident — possibly this year.

Tractor Supply Co. had a development plan at the corner of Buford Lane and Ring Road unanimously approved Tuesday night by the Elizabethtown Planning and Zoning Commission. The building site is near Academy Sports.

“We’re glad to be on that corner,” said Trey Jinright with JADE Consulting of Fairhope, Alabama. “It’s a prominent corner.”

The single-level structure at 1451 Ring Road also will have a 15,000-square-foot outside storage area, and front and side parking for 73 spaces.

Since 2015, Academy Sports, Hobby Lobby, Buffalo Wild Wings and Panda Express all have opened in the roughly quarter-mile stretch between Buford and Woodland.

“We’re very excited to be coming here,” said Jinright, who attended the meeting.

TSC, which was founded in 1938 and has an Elizabethtown store at 1511 N. Dixie Ave., sells items such as clothing, equine and pet supplies, tractor/trailer parts and accessories, lawn and garden supplies, power tools, fencing, welding and pump supplies, and riding mowers.

“It’s a really nice looking building,” Elizabethtown City Councilman Terry Shipp said of the plans.

Jinright said once all permits are granted, it’s “a 120-day build.” He said JADE Consulting Designs builds TSC stores around the country.

Customers will be able to access TSC off Ring Road or Buford Lane.

A Brentwood, Tennessee-based company, TSC operates more than 1,600 stores in 49 states, according to its website.

The current TSC location will be closed once the new store is ready, a company official said Wednesday.

The commission granted four waivers on the development plan, including a sidewalk along Buford Lane and cosmetic waivers to the building.

The commission also granted a one-year extension u on the development plan for Menards home improvement center on Ring Road across from American Legion Post 113. It’s the second extension the project has received.

City Administrator Ed Poppe said Menards officials met with city officials about two months ago on the project, which has been stalled by an oil transmission line beneath the property. Poppe said Sunoco has told Menards officials the line will need to be lowered before moving forward.

“They have continued to keep us informed of their efforts,” Poppe said.
