Recall Issued for Frozen Raw Pet Food Product - American Veterinarian

A voluntarily recall has been issued after samples collected during an FDA inspection tested positive for Salmonella.

performance dog recallNew Jersey–based Bravo Packing, Inc is recalling all Performance Dog frozen raw pet food products due to possible Salmonella contamination. The company voluntarily issued the recall after a sample of Performance Dog collected during an FDA inspection tested positive for the bacterium.

Performance Dog comes frozen in 2-pound and 5-pound plastic sleeves. The recalled product has the manufactured date code 071418. The manufacture date codes are printed on the boxes that contain the plastic sleeves, not on the individual plastic sleeves. If the boxes have already been discarded and the product was purchased after July 14, 2018, the FDA recommends that pet owners exercise caution and throw the product away.

Pet owners who have handled the affected products are at risk for Salmonella infection and should seek medical help if they develop symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, watery or bloody diarrhea, fever, and headache. Veterinary care should be sought for pets that show any of these signs. To date, no human or animal illnesses related to Performance Dog products have been reported.

Consumers with questions should contact Bravo Packing at 856-299-1044 or through the company’s website at bravopacking.com.
