HARVEY, Mich. (WLUC) - Many in California are still recovering after the most destructive and deadliest wildfire season in the state's history. Among those still needing help are pets.

Dr. Tim Hunt and the Bayshore Veterinary Hospital donated more than 20,000 pounds of dog and cat food to the Butte Humane Society in Chico, California, for the victims of the fire. Many families lost everything and don't have the means to feed or care for their pets. Other pets were misplaced and are now homeless, separated from their families.

Hunt thought this was the best way he could help.

“We're softies here and we just decided to help out, and I think everybody should if they can,” said Hunt. “We have the means by which to send a bunch of food their way, so we did it.”
