Pet product company Wild One announced on Aug. 26 it has partnered with Sweetgreen to release a limited-edition, two-ingredient dog treat, Plants for Pups. The gently dehydrated apple and sweet potato dog treats add to Wild One’s initial line of sweet potato, Asian Carp and chicken tender products, released in April 2019.
“Sweetgreen’s food ethos and sourcing standards were a huge inspiration for us when creating our line of dog treats,” said Minali Chatani, co-founder of Wild One and former head of brand creative for Sweetgreen.
Both brands provide transparent sourcing information and incorporate sustainable ingredient in their food products.
The human-grade ingredients in Wild One and Sweetgreen’s latest dog treats are sourced in the US. According to Wild One, the sweet potatoes are sourced from Nature’s Way farms in Faison, North Carolina, and the apples from Apple King in Yakima Valley, Washington.
The two-ingredient dog treats are hand-sliced and dehydrated, with no added grains, preservatives or fillers, according to the companies.
Product packaging for Plant for Pups is made from 100% recyclable materials, Wild One added.
The sweet potato and apple treats will be available for a limited time on Wild One’s website, Sweetgreen’s online store and its brick-and-mortar store in Washington, D.C.
Sweetgreen is a national food brand whose philosophy is offering “simple, seasonal, health food.” The company was founded in 2007.
