Mascots team up to support pets in need - Morganton News Herald

Morganton mascot and serval cat, Tyra, is partnering with another charitable-minded K-9, Laddie Bronte , to collect pet supplies for the Outreach Center in Morganton.

The two have a special friendship and common interest of helping out local organizations in need that support animals and their owners.

Both Tyra and Laddie Bronte, a border collie and English springer spaniel mix, volunteer for The Outreach Center by assisting with special events. Currently, both are promoting " Operation Santa Paws for a Cause " to assist The Outreach Center in restocking its Market Pet Pantry, which was depleted of its supplies in the November food distribution that assisted 120 dogs and 56 cats.

In addition to promoting " Operation Santa Paws for a Cause ," Tyra and Laddie Bronte are taking an active role in the event by hosting a special celebration, which they hope will help to restock the shelves and will enable the availability of pet food at the December food distribution.

Tyra will be hosting a party for Laddie Bronte as he celebrates his birthday on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. During that time period, anyone is welcome to bring in pet food donations and visit with Tyra and Laddie Bronte.

As Tyra did with her birthday party at The Outreach Center Market Pet Pantry in September, Laddie Bronte also will be accepting gifts in the form of pet food donations.

Tyra hopes that Laddie Bronte’s birthday party will be as successful as hers in restocking the Pet Pantry shelves and that all of her friends can join her again and also help Laddie Bronte celebrate his birthday.

For those unable to attend, pet food donations for "Operation Santa Paws for a Cause" are being accepted at the following Morganton locations through Dec. 15: The Outreach Center, Burke Animal Clinic, Healthy Petz, Medicine Man Veterinary Hospital, Morganton Animal Clinic, Paws & Claws Pet Village, The Pet Parlor, PetSmart, Me You and Some Glue, Di’lishi Frozen Yogurt Bar, Maria’s Italian Eatery, Animal House Veterinary Hospital in Rutherford College and Animal Hospital of East Burke in Valdese.

In this season of giving, Tyra and Laddie Bronte thank those who donate in advance for the support and for caring about the many pets in need. For more information, call 828-439-8300.
